Can anyone help me find the title of this movie.?

It involved Blues music. A black Blues guitarist was holding a white girl hostage and i guess she just got used to it and he took her chains off and she still stayed. uhmm... he gave her a dress and she inspired him to play guitar again.. i an only remember bits and pieces of it but i loved the movie. saw it a few years ago but i just can't seem to remember the title
