What are some places to for a band to play in Southern California?

we aren't that old. we're only about 15 years old each but we want to get out there and get our name known. where are some places to do thing? we play all kinds of music like rock and alternative. can we perform at the movie theater for instance Metro Point in Costa Mesa? how would you do that?
