Anyone ever heard of someone getting a false negative on a blood test for down's/spina bifida?

I just got the results of my AFP blood test back and they said it was negative and everything was good. I've heard that a lot of people can get false positives with these types of tests, but are false negatives common as well? Or is that quite rare? Thanks!
